What is a Therapy Dog?

It is a goal of a therapy dog and handler team is to provide animal assited theraputic
results for those who may be lonely, depressed or need a little extra cheer in their lives.

Many dogs now visit the terminally ill or work through mental health facilities, the foster care system
assisting health care providers in the healing process. Activities include, but are not limited to,
visits to hospitals, special needs centers, schools, and nursing homes.

The objective is to form a network of caring individuals who are willing to share their
special animals in order to bring happiness and cheer to people, young and old alike.
Being a part of an organization, such as Therpay Dog International will help provide
the insurance and guidance needed.

Tail waggin' tutors is a special reading program which is a wonderful way to help
children with their reading skills!

In 2011 K-9 Capers and Katies Kidz will be forming a new Therapy Dog Chapter
in the Charlotte/Concord area. We hope to meet once a quarter for a covered dish,
advance training and sharing of our stories.
