PAST EVENTS:
Hi Everyone,
As many of you know, the month of May has been officially declared by the Cabarrus County Commissioners Anti-Cruelty Month. Each week will feature a special event aimed at educating the public on what can be done to prevent cruelty.
As one event, youth from the non-profit group K-9 Capers will be participating in puppet show performances at each of the county libraries. The theme,of course is how to promote kindness to animals.
Below are the times we have set for the libraries puppet show performances. They will last about 45 min or less and is free to the public.
- Mt. Pleasant Library - 4: p.m. on Tuesday May 20
- Harrisburg Library - 4:p.m. on Thursday May 22
- Kannapolis Library 4 pm Tuesday 27th
- Concord Library - 4 p.m. on Wednesday May 28
The puppet show will have a cat and dog discussing with each other how to best take care of each others needs. It is a cute script form the ASPCA.
Here are some bullet points regarding being kind to animals week.
- Cruelty to animals is illegal in all 50 states and a felony in 43. (Humane Society of the United States)
- Most cruelty investigated by Humane Officers is unintentional neglect that can be solved through education.(Humane Society of the United States)
- Learn to be a responsible pet owner and teach others too- this is the best way to be kind to animals.
- AKC's Baily the Beagle says " be a responsible pet owner". visit www.akc.org to learn more.
- To be a responsible pet owner you should always provide fresh food and water. Have a warm, dry shelter away from drafts. Provide exercise and play time for your pet. Give your pet proper id and visit your veterinarian at least once a year.
- Most of all provide lots of love!
- Donating food to an animal shelter is a good example of kindness.
