Course Decriptions:
FAMILY DOG (basic manners training) 9:15am $60
For dogs 7 months old or older with no formal training or graduates of puppy kindergarten classes (4 weeks/1 hour). An introductory class for positive training and behavior management for any dog. Handlers will learn the basics of learning theory and proper use of training techniques. We will show you how to teach your dog to pay attention, sit, down, stay, come, and walk on a leash. This is a levels class. You move ahead to the next item when you are ready. We will design a training regimen for your specific problem. This is a good place to start all dogs.
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN 10:15 am $60
For graduates of Family Dog 2 (4 weeks/1 hour). This class prepares the companion and family dog to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. This test requires that your dog can be approached by a friendly stranger; be left alone with a friendly stranger; be able to sit, down, stay, recall, and leash walk in a distracting environment; and calmly meet a person with a strange dog. Each week we will review the entire test. Should have some basic manners.
THERAPY DOG 11:15am $60
(4 weeks/1 hour). PREREQUISITE: Dogs must have passed the CGC test. This class will introduce handlers to the requirements for registration with recognized therapy dog organizations and types of therapeutic modalities with visiting dogs. Emphasis will be on helping the handler/dog team learn to work together successfully in a social setting (with role playing in class), develop effective visiting skills, recognizing signs of stress (in human and dog), and understanding the ethical and relational obligations to our dogs while engaged in animal-enhanced programs. Instructors will help class members prepare for an evaluation withTherapy Dogs International. Fee for this class does not include any fees associated with evaluation or registration with a therapy dog organization. (May continue to take the class at no charge after initial paid class until your dog has passed unless dog has been excused for aggression)
Play and Learn (relationship building course)12:15pm $45
(4 weeks/1 hour). is a course where dogs and their handlers will have the opportunity to try out in a fun games in a non-competitive environment with intro to some dog sports. The first class will teach you how to begin shaping your dog's behavior. Will use a combination of Agility, Tricks, Nose Work, and Rally Obedience. This is a wonderful way to build on your relationship for getting a reliable recall with your dog and have a great time in the process. Some off leash work in a safe environment.
KINDERPUPPY COURSE: Sponsored class (free class to newly adopted puppies)
Course designed by a veterinarian and behaviorist, Dr. Messer. For puppies 8-16 weeks at the time that classes start (50 min.-weekly) This special class gives young puppies and their owners a head start on their new life together. Introduces basic skills and the importance of proper management of mouthing, house training, and socialization. Basic skills such as paying attention, sit, down, coming when called, and how to walk on leash are introduced. A great class for "first time" puppy parents or owner of a newly adopted puppy. Social time beginning and end of each class. Puppy packets with coupons,samples and other goodies available.
SENIOR PUPPY KINDERGARTEN $45
For puppies 4-7 months old (4 weeks/1 hour). An introductory class for positive training and behavior management for older puppies. This class introduces the basic skills of paying attention, sit, down, stay, recalls and how to walk on a leash. Emphasis is placed on proper management of problem behaviors such as mouthing, house training, and socialization.

4-H Dog Training Club: No charge
Accepting new members staring in January 2012-(no charge, however, minor fees may be applicable for purchases or field trips and summer camps.
Ages 8-18 For dog training club Ages 5-7 for Cloverbuds
Parents must be present with youth 12 and under,all dogs must be pre-approved before bringing to any event. Call 704 721 6757 to get the information.
Handling Clinics,Agility and Rally Clinics,Pet First Aid, Careers with pets or just hanging out with a canine friend! This year we are adding a drill team and the dog scout badges!
(Growly or reactive dogs) workshops form each quarter
Who: If approved by one of our trainers, this class is for dogs that are overly excitable to the point they are not able to perform or focus on listening to a request by the owner.

Loose-Leash Walking & Reliable Recall
Who: Are you getting dragged ,tangled or frustrated on your walks? Don’t risk a fall
Or worse a broken hip! Does you dog run from you instead of to you? Also work on reliable recall. In this hands-on workshop you put in to practice several techniques in various distractions. Includes a fun field-trip!

Want to learn something new? Is your dog begging you for a job? All dogs and puppies can track scent. Canines have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This class focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It’s a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy and to find out just how good is your dog’s nose. The National Association of Canine Scent Work TM (NACSW) sets the standards governing the sport of K9 Nose Work TM. The NACSW is the only official sanctioning and organizing body for K9 Nose Work titles and ORTs.
